The Lighthouse

Location: Port of Tanjung Mas, Semarang
This lighthouse was built around 1884 during the Dutch colonialism, by the initiative of King Willem II. Up to now, the building is still in a good shape and is useful.

Thank you so much for sharing those photos. I miss my “kampung halaman”….. Semarang has changed a lot for the past 26 years. Luckily, I’ve been able to visit the city often enough, that I can keep up with what’s new. I hope those historic buildings will continue to be well maintained. I recently visited a community in Gunung Pati. Clean water is not available for those folks who are living there. Can someone ask Pak Walikota to provide clean water for the people in Gunung Pati? I suppose for “mandi” and washing clothes they can go to the river, but how about hygiene? For cooking? For drinking? Isn’t it about time for Semarang to meet the standard of healthy living?
