The Great Zheng He (Cheng Ho)

Location : Sam Po Kong Temple, Semarang
This is the sculpture of Admiral Zheng He (Cheng Ho). He was a Chinese mariner of Hui ethnic, descent, explorer, diplomat and fleet admiral. Zheng He led seven expeditions to what the Chinese called “the Western Ocean” (Indian Ocean).

This Old lady sells trumpet at Jl. A. Yani Semarang. We can see many trumpet sellers here every New Year.
We (Indonesian Peoples) have a tradition to sound The trumpet at public area on New Year Eve.

Happy Eid ul-Adha

Today Dec 20, 2007 we are all Muslims around the world celebrate Eid ul-Adha (Idul Adha). Eid ul-Adha is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide as a commemoration of Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismael for Allah. In this day Men, women and children are expected to dress in their finest clothing to perform Eid prayer (Salatu’l-`id) in any mosque. Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice their best domestic animals (usually sheep, but also camels, cows, and goats) as a symbol of Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) sacrifice. Happy Eid ul-Adha 1428 H.
Midodareni Night

Midodareni is a night before mariage. The bride wears a traditional costume (Kebaya) from her culture or tradition (in Indonesia, different location makes different tradition).
But nowadays, usually many brides prefer to wear modern Kebaya, like you see at the photo. So it will not like an old-fashioned costume. :)
