Happy Fasting

The blessed month of Ramadan has come, a month long celebration of self-purification and restraint. During Ramadan, the Muslim community fast, abstaining from food, drink, smoking and sex between sunrise and sunset. The goal of the fast is to teach humility, patience and sacrifice, and to ask forgiveness, practice self-restraint, and pray for guidance in the future.
Happy fasting (shoum) to all. We would like to wish you a blessed Ramadan, May Allah accept from us and from you (our deeds).
Central Java Art and Cultural Parade 2010

On August 7, 2010 many dancers and performers from every regency and city of Central Java showed their best appearance to The Governor on The Central Java Art and Cultural Parade 2010 along Jalan Pahlawan, Semarang.
This event was held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Central Java Province.
New Leader of Semarang

The New Mayor of Semarang Soemarmo and Deputy Mayor Hendi Hendrar Prihadi wearing Javanese traditional clothes at the “Manghayubagya Pelantikan Wali Kota dan Wakil Wali Kota Semarang” event on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. They were inaugurated by Governor Bibit Waluyo in Semarang council building on Monday, July 19, 2010.
Soemarmo and Hendi will serve until 2015, replacing the former mayor Sukawi Sutarip and deputy mayor Mahfud Ali.
Hope the new leader will bring great change for Semarang in five years ahead.
Solo Batik Carnival in Semarang

Models present creations made from traditional batik cloth during Solo Batik Carnival in Semarang, April 25, 2010. The carnival featured around 16 performers incorporating masks into their acts, which took place along Jalan Pemuda Semarang.
The carnival was held to support the Asli Indonesia event, Batik Expo by Bokor Kencono from April 23 to May 3, 2010.
The carnival presented three styles of traditional masks, which are associated with particular mythological characters. The Panji masks represent a king or a queen along with gentleness and beauty, the Kelana masks represent knights or evil giants and the Gecuk masks represent punakawan or royal servants.

Keroncongan di Kota Lama

Bambang Heri W played his Electric Saxophone (Akai EWI 4000s Electric Wind Instrument) on “Keroncongan di Kota Lama” event. This Keroncong music competition was held on Friday, April 9th, 2010 at Taman Sri Gunting (Semarng Old City area) to celebrate the 463rd anniversary of Semarang City (May 2nd, 2010).
The competition’s judges are Koko Thole, Yanto Congrock, and Bambang. Bambang is the son of Waldjinah (famous Keroncong Singer in Indonesia).
The competition’s result :
first place : Gissiga from Yogyakarta
second place : Solo Manise from Solo
third place : Pesona Batik from Pekalongan
fourth place : Kenangan Kekal from Semarang
