Warak Ngendhog

Warak Ngendhog is an imaginary creature in Semarang. Its body is like goat but its head is like Chinese Dragon and it carries egg. It represents three ethnic groups in Semarang: Javanese, Chinese and Arabian.
Warak Ngendhog Parade is held along Jalan Pemuda Semarang during the Dugderan Carnival, right one day before Ramadan as the culmination of the Annual Dugderan Festival in Semarang. This year it is on August 10, 2010. It starts from Semarang City Hall to The Grand Mosque.

The Last Cap Go 2559

Saturday, January 10th 2009 was the last full moon in the year of Imlek 2559 (day 15 of the 12th month of Imlek). The ritual of “Ketok Pintu” (to knock on the door) was held on that day (the last Cap Go) as the commencement of Pasar Imlek Semawis event. During the ritual, the Taoists prayed in the shrines located in the Chinese quarter (Pecinan) of Semarang. Four dancers from See Hoo Kiong shrine also added a liveliness to the festival and the Warak Ngendog attraction gave the audience more of a taste of Semarang.

Warak

Warak is a mythical creature; its body is mixture between dragon and horse. Warak is a mascot for Dudgeran festival in Semarang. Dudgeran festival is held annually, before Ramadhan month.
